Our Story
Born out of a bartender’s passion for craft and sustainability, DML Bamboo Straw was founded by Mark Jacob, a former mixologist at the renowned Hamanasi Resort in Hopkins Village, Belize.
While working behind the bar, Mark witnessed firsthand the resort’s efforts to transition away from harmful single use plastics in favor of eco-friendly alternatives. Inspired by this shift and driven by his own respect for the environment, he came up with the idea of creating bamboo straws; a natural, reusable solution rooted in Belize’s own resources.
What started as a simple idea to serve drinks more sustainably quickly grew into a full business. Today, DML Bamboo Straw produces handcrafted bamboo straws, stirrers, and eco pouches; all made locally, with love and intention. Every product reflects our commitment to reducing plastic waste, supporting local craftsmanship, and celebrating our Caribbean heritage through sustainable living.
